Explanations of License Types, License Status, and Description of Class Codes

Below is a description of License Types

  • Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)
    • C = they are only allowed to perform coronal polishing
    • X = they are allowed to expose radiographs
    • S = they are allowed to apply pit and fissure sealants
    • U = they are allowed to perform ultrasonic scaling for orthodontic procedures
    • All = they are allowed to perform all five duties (If a person is allowed to perform more than one duty, "COR" will become "C" and "ULT" will become "U").
  • Registered Dental Assistant Extended Functions (RDAEF)
    • S = they are allowed to apply pit and fissure sealants
    • U = they are allowed to perform ultrasonic scaling for orthodontic procedures
  • Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
    • N = they are allowed to administer nitrous oxide and oxygen
    • S = they are allowed to perform soft tissue curettage
    • L = they are allowed to perform local anesthesia
    • The field will either be completely blank or show the designation "SLN" if they are allowed to perform all three duties. The field will show the designation "NON" if they are not allowed to perform any of the three duties.

  • Registered Dental Hygienist Extended Functions (RDHEF)
    • N = they are allowed to administer nitrous oxide and oxygen
    • S = they are allowed to perform soft tissue curettage
    • L = they are allowed to perform local anesthesia
  • Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP)

Below is a description of license status:

  • 10 - Renewed/Current
  • 10 9 - Renewed/Current (9) Inactive
  • 3 - Delinquent
  • 11- Continuing Education Requirement not adequate
  • 12 -Suspense no qualifier

Below is a description of class codes

  • C - they are only allowed to perform coronal polishing (12 suspense no qualifier)
  • X - they are allowed to expose radiographs (12 suspense no qualifier)
  • S - they are allowed to apply pit and fissure sealants (not required)
  • U - they are allowed to perform ultrasonic scaling for orthodontic procedures (not required)
  • All - they are allowed to perform all five duties (if a person is allowed to perform more than one duty, "COR" will become "C" and "ULT" will become "U"). (not required)
